2005 - Present: Motricity (formally Infospace) – Technical Project Manager

As an extremely dedicated and reliable Technical Project Manager the role includes customer facing requirements gathering, solution design and statement of work documentation. Deriving effort and cost estimation with the respective teams in UK and US (engineering, QA, PgM). Assisting with project plans and risk management. Setting objectives for engineering staff on a day-to-day basis and monitoring progress of on and off shore resources.

Project Manager of Virgin Mobile “Bites” from August 2008 to present.

Owning all operational issues with the production service. Keeping within the service level agreement. Managing a team of two software developers and two quality assurance engineers using scrum/agile methodology. Supporting a user base of 300,000 WAP, WEB and SMS unique users, with 6,000,000 page impressions per month. Working closely with third parties, including InfoMedia (storefront - games, pictures, tones etc), PA Group (news), Meteo (weather), Sunday/IMG Media (sports), UK Lottery, Freever / Buongiorno (chat), Waat Media (adult), Que Pasa (editorial) and Cellectivity (gambling).

Translation Layer – Technical Project Manager – (JAVA, XML, Hibernate, Spring, SOAP, SQL)

The Translation Layer is a new core product that automatically ingestions third-party metadata from content providers such as Sony BMG and Universal. Once ingested the metadata is made available to the storefront catalogue for merchandising and also mobile search. The content providers can add, update or remove content at will. The combination of Translation Layer, catalogue, storefront and search is extremely powerful, making full use of up to date Marketing strategies and the renowned “Long Tail”.

As the Technical Project Manager for the five month project, direct communication with the customer, Virgin Mobile and third parties was paramount. Meetings were held on and off site. Combined with daily and weekly conference calls to outline requirements and maintain project visibility. Responsible for managing, guiding, motivating and supporting a team of five programmers both in the United Kingdom and India whilst coordinating internal stakeholders from United States of America. Deeply involved in project planning, risk management and release planning.

2000 - 2005: SITA Passenger Travel Solutions (formally EQUANT) - Analyst Programmer

Amtrak – Programmer (UML, Java, Applets, JSP, XML, ANT, Tomcat, Web Sphere)

A project to replace Amtrak’s self-service ticketing kiosks in over 150 locations throughout the US. The system provided timetables, booking, rebooking, reward card handling and ticket printing functionality. Touch screen user interaction kiosk. Communication layer between software and hardware. Host commands for travel availability, pricing and ticketing. Opportunity to lead a team of five developers (United Kingdom and Ireland) of a short period.
